Abstract: Virgin coconut oil is becoming more widely known and used as a beneficial food oil. VCO is the purest form of coconut oil which is water like white in color. It is high in antioxidants (vitamin E) which help to prevents the peroxidation reaction. Mechanical screw press methods are used to extract virgin coconut oil in this study because the mechanical extraction is a greener and healthier way of manufacturing oil due to there are no solvent (chemical) residues in the oil. Small quantities of oil were required for analysis in the laboratory, hence it is desirable that a screw press that can be efficiently handle small amount of oil-seed/nut was provided.
