Abstract:
The paper investigate the impact of maternal factors on child ill health in India using the data from National Family Household Survey 2005-06. The empirical analysis exploits a cross-section structure of the dataset by regression (logit transformation) estimation of a static model taking into account the observed maternal factors and possible dimensions of child ill health. Our results explain the significant impact of maternal factors on child ill health. As a policy option, this paper argues for the improvement of maternal factors to improve the well-being of the children.
