Abstract:
Coronary artery disease is the most common type of heart disease and the leading cause of death worldwide. Diets high in saturated fatty acids and cholesterol increase the risk of CHD by raising LDL cholesterol levels. In contrast, individuals consuming diets high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and unsaturated fatty acids appear to have low risk of CHD due to the presence of antioxidants, folic acid, B-vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids, and others.
